They Like Their Juice
Been getting a steady supply of customers at the feeders since they went up a couple weeks ago. Pairs and trios occasionally but mostly solo diners.
20191229 Fender Season
It is fender season in the PNW. If you don’t mind the mud in yer eye or a soggy backside then move along otherwise enjoy these images of the finest fenders around. The fat fenders are home-made using found artisanal coroplast paneling mated to 9 guage galvinized fencing wire via an array of cable clamps and zip ties. The skinny tire bike is adorned with pre-fab items from Mudhugger and Muckey Nutz. Stupid names but they work great and are too easy to apply. From the UK.
San Juan Island, WA
20190915 Bend
Weekend to Bend. Visit the haunts. Ride bikes. Eat pancakes. Spectate the river surf. Beware: Place is a automobile mess. Bike trails still make a great sail through the forest. Parked the xB at Phil’s TH between two “adventure” Sprinters. Stepped out of the car, stretched, inhaled a deep lung-full of control burn and got to pedaling! Lunch, twice, Kona Mix Plate. Kalua pork yes please! Stay at Townplace Suites between Original Pancake House and Cascade Lakes pub.
20190905 Cannon Beach
Weekend at Cannon Beach.
Ecola Lodge is right off the highway but all you hear is the waves and munching elk. Plenty good places to eat and miles of beach to ride/walk.
Dispatch from Clam Beach
Tehan reports the following conditions from Clam Beach on the north coast of California: mild temps, firm to soft sand, a ray in decay, and super fine fat tire conditions.
Also note that horses and dogs must be kept on a leash. Fat bikes may roam freely, somewhat, watch for the plovers.
Plains of Abraham
Visited the Plains of Abraham. WA state, Mt St. Helens. East side.
Good trail up up up Ape Canyon to the pumice flats below Mt St. Helens.
Left Beaverton 7, got to the trailhead 9. Couple other riders, quiet trail, mostly smooth, few roots and rocks.
Up onto the pumice Plains, goofed around, back down.
Little busier on the return; mostly hikers.
Stubs
The NWTA is building fun trails at Stub Stewart State Park.
